Andrea La Torre
Andrea was born in 1975 and, being a British rock and blues enthusiast, approached music (more specifically, the guitar) at the age of 13. Andrea is almost completely self-taught but initially took lessons from maestro Claudio Giannini and also teacher/friend Robert Di Virgilio.
At the age of 18, Andrea formed his first musical group, the Sound Shivers, who performed English indie tracks in local pubs and clubs for the majority of the ‘90s.
Andrea also performs alone (or in a duo with his sister Lisa, current singer of Supernova) as an entertainer in pubs or as the front-man, forming groups such as, “Basic Blues Trio” or “Small Filters Band” offering a wide range of music such as: classic hits, rock’n’roll and blues.
He plays and sings in “Soul Bar” with friends Marco and Cristian Ciampoli and Chiara Cuccurullo. The before mentioned people form the B.A.U. who, in 1999, won the “Accademia della Canzone di Sanremo”, signing a record contract with EMI/parlophone and performing at the 50th “Festival della canzone italiana” with the song “Ogni ora” from their next album, “cosmiclove.it”. Concerts (including a summer tour with “Radio Italia” and another tour where they showed their support for Gloria Gaynor) and television appearances followerd, in which B.A.U. shared the stage with artists such as Carmen Consoli, Max Gazzè, Piero Pelù, Subsonica and others. The group also published a single entitled “Ridere” with the goal to raise funds as a relief campaign for the devastating earthquake, which struck L’Aquila in 2009.
Andrea also lent his guitar and bass skills to collaborate with DJ and producer Fabrizio Mammarella, for an electro-funk, nu-disco and original material album under the pseudonym Telespazio. He was also featured on several remixes for other artists. Andrea is currently working to create an LP consisting of songs by his previous and first band (Sound Shivers).
He is currently a member of the trio “#Supernova” that, thanks to the versatility of the members, has a vast repertoire consisting of many different musical genres to offer at events and ceremonies. Through Andrea’s association “TKShocK eventi” he is occupied with promoting music and culture in his region.
